Josie has always wanted to do a humanitarian project. However, she knew this would be a huge undertaking with her limited capabilities, so she was trying to figure out how her dream could become a reality. Miraculously, amazing people came into her life, people who would be her advocates and be as excited about this new endeavor as she was.
Not long after returning home from Italy Josie met Ryan Ogden, the Executive Director of Revive Service Tours. Since they both had projects they were passionate about, Ryan offered Josie an experience of a lifetime: to combine forces and travel with a group of humanitarian volunteers to a third world country and spread JOY! So The 444 Project went to the Philippines!!! In the Philippines Josie and her entourage spent two weeks building a kindergarten classroom, held education summits and health clinics, and volunteered at orphanages. Thanks to a charitable contribution from Legacy Traditional School The 444 Project was able to donate a library and provided playground equipment to those wonderful children. Throughout the trip Josie interviewed the Filipinos asking them “What brings you JOY?” It was a humbling experience to learn from these wonderful people who have very little what brings them happiness. It was amazing to be able to see the happiness one book, or one new friend brought them! But the greatest change we saw was in our selves. The volunteers walked away from the Philippines with a new outlook on life. We now know JOY and understand that it is not contingent on how much we have, but by how much love we give.
